Volcano Village is located at an elevation of 4,000′ above sea level in a lovely rainforest setting. The intimate, friendly community of Volcano Village, with approximately 2,500 residents, welcomes visitors year-round.
Volcano Village hosts a visitors center, post office, laundromat, Sunday morning Farmers Market, and a diverse selection of accommodations. It has a range of restaurants for fine or casual, decadent and vegetarian dining, and local stores and shops offering groceries, gas, ATM machines, internet cafes, arts and crafts, tropical flowers, and more. An abundance of flowers, ferns, and rare birds make it a paradise. The Volcano Winery and Volcano Golf & Country Club are located just a few miles away.
Weather can be variable, from clear and warm to cool and rainy. Dressing in layers and being prepared for rain is always a good idea. Average yearly rainfall varies between 100″ and 125″, with temperatures usually between 50 to 75 degrees F. Most people here treasure their fireplaces. Fog and mist roll in most afternoons and evenings.
Volcano Village is located in the Puna district of East Hawai’i, just off Highway 11 near Hawai’i Volcano National Park. It is approximately 30 miles from Hilo (45 minute drive) and 100 miles from Kailua-Kona (2-1/2 hour drive).
