Thanks to the diplomatic efforts between the U.S. and Cuba, the International Tea Masters Association is offering the first-ever tea training of its kind in Cuba.  Majestic  Havana is the ideal city selected to host the ITMA Certified Tea Sommelier  Course for becoming an ITMA Certified Tea Sommelier™, one of the most cherished titles in the industry. The association, recognized throughout the world as the Gold Standard in tea education, was founded to provide Mastery Level training, education, and professional certification to individuals desiring to become an ITMA Certified Tea Sommelier™. Its superior faculty and outstanding curriculum are unmatched in the entire tea industry.

The training, which will be conducted in English, starts with the 2-Day ITMA  Comprehensive Tea Sommelier  Course held on-site at the Melia Habana Hotel from July 25 – 26, 2015, from 9am to 5pm each day. The 8-Week ITMA Tea Sommelier Tasting Course starts the following week involving home study, tasting and evaluating 18 different teas, and periodic online group conference sessions to share experiences and ask questions.

claudia_200hThe training will be led by ITMA Certified Tea Master™ Claudia Zárate Vergés, a resident of Mexico City. With an extensive background in Wine, Tea, and Fine Cuisine, she promises to make this an especially memorable, life changing experience for everyone.

Accommodations are available at the Melia Habana Hotel.  Room rates are 109 Euros (US$122)  per night. The 2-Day ITMA  Comprehensive Tea Sommelier Coursewill be held in a conference room at the hotel, which accommodates up to 12 registrants. Seating is limited.

The training contains all the educational requirements an individual needs for achieving the association’s prestigious ITMA Certified Tea Sommelier designation once the program, blind tea tasting, oral or written dissertation, and final examination are successfully completed.

Registrants will experience some of the most exquisite and often rarest loose-leaf teas from around the world. The training will also include: Health Benefits of Tea and Valuable Guest Service Skills.

Tuition for the complete training program is 778 Euros (US$975) for association members (978 Euros – US$1,225 for nonmembers). To register, post a 200 Euros (US$250) non-refundable tuition-deposit at The tuition balance will be invoiced to registrants by e-mail  and must be paid by July 1, 2015.
