The Certified Master Tea Host Course includes the most essential components that will support participants in planning, preparing, and presenting a Cream Tea, Afternoon Tea, and High Tea. Registrants will prepare and taste the most popular teas for each of these events, along with several innovative and delicious additions.

One segment in the training involves how to properly set the table for serving High Tea. We will teach you everything from placement of your tablecloth and napkins, silverware, plates, cups, and accessories.

Upon successful completion of the course, a test is given to registrants. Those completing the coursework receive a prestigious Certificate of Completion.

Course curriculum includes:

Day 1

SETTING UP - Location & Premises, Leasehold Improvements & Equipment, Licensing & Permits, Costs, Branding & Marketing

RUNNING A TEAROOM - Vendors, Staff, Reservations, Customer Service, Optimizing Profitability

TEA, THE BEVERAGE - How to Design, Select, Store & Serve *Includes a Tea-Tasting Session with Scones (Cream Tea)

Day 2

THE TEA TABLE - Accouterments & Decorum (How to Set; Style & Presentation)

TYPES OF TEA SERVICES - Cream or Dessert Tea, Afternoon Tea, Lunch or High Tea, Buffet Tea

MENU PLANNING & PRESENTATION TEAROOM BAKING - Shopping, Preparation, Tools *High Tea Served at 4 o'clock

Day 3

FOCUS ON TEA SANDWICHES - Art, Preparation, Storing


FUN, PRACTICAL & HANDS-ON sessions on tearoom baking and preparation including tips, secrets & shortcuts.

PLENTY OF TEA TALK & opportunities to learn including a Q&A session

VIRTUAL TEA TOUR with Joy including many tea rooms, shops, & some plantations from around the world she has visited.

VIEW COLLECTION of antique & unusual pieces of China, silver, & accessories; some for selection and use during our practice tea service.
